So today I paid a visit to the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool to view the “Only in England” exhibition; a collection of Martin Parr images and Tony Ray-Jones images selected by Martin. You can see from the collection that Tony had an influence on Martins early work, both sets of prints are alike.
All prints at the exhibition are well presented black and whites alongside a contact sheet light box wall. (some of my favourites I have shown below). I must say, although I love black and white prints i do prefer the colourful images of Martins later work! The exhibition is inspirational anything is to me at the minute, I wish I had the front to snap away at random people, I just can’t bring myself too. I guess times have changed and back in the 60’s/70’s you could get away with it without question!!
